Liability-wise posts like that should be preceded with a "Keyboard Clear Warning" but sometimes that is just not possible. :))

Also, IN FULL, for posterity's sake, from Mike Magee at Le Inq: (And thanks must be had to Magee from refraining to use the catch line, "Just when AMD thought it was safe to get back in the water."

Intel readies fresh shoal of chip sharks

Fresh offensive against Chimpzilla

By INQUIRER staff: Friday 26 January 2007, 10:55

CHIPZILLA IS SET to introduce a barrage of microprocessors, chipsets and mobos between now and the third quarter as it seeks to further put pressure on competitor AMD.

The main introductions are on the desktop and mobile front, with several chips being introduced earlier than expected.

On the desktop front, the E6420, the E6320 and the E4400 are now expected to arrive on the 22nd of April.

A Kentsfield quad Q6400 is slated for a June introduction, and we'll also see two Pentium dual core chips, including the so-called Controe Essential being introduced in June. These are numbered the E2160 and the E2140.

Conroe Value Celerons will arrive in June, while that's also true of the P35 (Bearlake) and G33 (Salt Creek chipsets). In the third quarter, we will see the E6850, the E6750 and the E6550 along with the Q35 and Q33 Express chipsets. The G35 Express and the X38 Express chipsets will also arrive in Q3. This last is codenamed the Bearlake Enthusiast.

This is the year of Santa Rosa. Intel will produce a Core 2 Extreme X7800, a Celeron 540, and Core 2 Duo U7600 and U7500 for this.

A Celeron 530 is expected at the end of March, while Intel also promises Core 2 Solo Napa refresh chips the U2200 and the U2100.

Lastly, but not leastly, Intel is promising a raft of desktop motherboards including three in June - the Dragon Tail Peak (iP35 Express), Frostburg (iG33 Express) and Buffalo Creek (iG33 Express).

Other boards en route include the Q35 Express Johannesburg and Montpelier, the G35 Express Apache Lake, and the Bonetrail - for the Intel X38 Express chipset. µ
