If you want to take the train to Chicago but avoid Amtrak and its bullshit, this is the way to do it right. This is Chicago to Baltimore/DC:

BTW, Jim Stobie was killed in Baltimore in 2017 (November 8) - hit by an Amtrak train from behind while he was walking over a rail bridge/overpass. The Amtrak train caught his backpack and dragged him for a quarter-mile. A following train called in what they identified as a dead deer carcass along the railway. When the train security came to remove the deer, they found that it was the mangled remains of Jim Stobie.

Nothing good ever comes from Amtrak.
