“ Kevlar shoot packs have about 20 to 30 layers of woven Kevlar fabric.”

You caught me guesstimating...I knew there was at least 15 layers but didn’t know the exact amount...I should have...I’ve taken a few apart just for the hell of it...

“ The military uses hard inserts to stop rifle rounds. ”

Those inserts can be used in most vests...but they are heavy and hot to wear...military and swat used to wear them...they were called armored plates or shock plates...I see now there seems to be more use of bullet proof shields in certain situations...

“ Like you, I think it doubtful that DS or ‘pure spider silk’ will be useful in shoot packs and they sure won’t work as a replacement for hard plates”

If they can somehow make a strong silk with a whole lot less flexibility, great...that might be doable for body armor....but initially, I thought the army contract would be for uniforms, tents, gauze or underwear...I thought that would be the goal...when I heard all the talk about shoot packs, all I could do was shake my head and wonder what the hell kim was thinking??...

And the idea that it’s somehow still all about the army?...lol...we can’t make a ton but we want an army contract??... smh
