The only thing that happened to the 38 original validated claims is they were added together in 4 big claims, the dependent claims to independent claims in big claims & the only thing that was added was the description of a few elements in Figure 1A & 3A of the original patent. phase lock loop, register & logic element.
Adding the description of a few figures to the patent claims isn't really out of the ordinary, Google's position is that the figures & description of a patent are meaningless then why not only claims are submitted of a patent.
The Netlist '912 renewed patent has 40 claims added to the original 38 claims explaining in other words the original claims so as to remove all doubt of so as of the interpretation thereof.
Gated column access strobe is mentioned in the claims in the explanation of the logic element of one of the figures, the judges Of Court of Appeals did this change it just means multiple column address strobe so as Google not to start bickering that strobe signal isn't plural.
There are also 2 smaller claims of the original 38 claims in the renewed '912 patent, claim 16 & claim 43, besides the big claims 1, 15, 28 & 39
Original claim 15 was added to original claim 16 in renewed '912 patent as claim 16, claim 15 of renewed patent has description of phase lock loop, logic element & register added to original claim 15 that have illustrations in figure 1A & 3A. No design change like you say GT.
Also in the original patent claim 16 is dependent of claim 15, so the net effect is claim 16 in the renewed patent is exactly the same.
An amendment that clarifies the text of the claim or makes it more definite without affecting its scope is generally viewed as identical, Descriptions of logic element, phase lock loop & register in 2 pictures are added to 4 big claims in the renewed '912. These pictures are embodiments that memory modules Google uses infringe upon.
