We all noticed those over a penny trades. Why do you assume that those buyers would, in the same day, take a big loss? Unless you can tell who the buyers were... I suggest that it is more likely that someone saw an opportunity to liquidate some or all of a much longer (than a day) held position... after someone else pushed the price waaaay up.
In my experience... people who can buy that much stock do it for a good reason... not to take a quick loss.
I'm wondering if there was a need for someone to have a significant position by that day for reasons unknown to us... and kept on raising their bid as needed to accomplish that goal.
Thoughts anyone?
