Following Self-Will or God's Will?



"Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities [that is, doing what pleases God]...And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of Him." ~ Romans 8:5,9

We may be able to fool ourselves and others, but no one is able to fool God. In the scripture passage above the Holy Spirit, through Paul, makes it very clear that those who are disobedient to the Lord are not of Him. And Jesus, in the passage below, proclaims the stark reality of the fate of those that live their life by "self-will" — not God's will:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into heaven’s kingdom. It is only those who persist in doing the will of My heavenly Father. On the day of judgment many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, don’t You remember us? Didn’t we prophesy in Your Name? Didn’t we cast out demons and do many miracles in Your Name?’ But I will have to say to them, ‘Go away from Me, you rebellious people! I never knew you!" ~ Matthew 7:21-23
