An article about Tej Virk was released Friday. https://cannabiswealth.co.uk/2021/07/23/akanda-esg-european-cannabis-market

In it, he announced Halo's intent for global expansion.

Europe and Asia Pacific are the first two core regions we will disturb, and really, any market which does medical cannabis which is in our remit. We are trying to narrow our focus on those two, but if we were to sum up all medical cannabis markets we would have an addressable market of over $70bn, so there is quite a lot of potential – including the UK.

Halo's a bit late to the party in UK - another Lesotho grower has already begun shipping cannabis to the UK. Tej said "We have already seen the first medical cannabis coming from Lesotho from a competitor about a month ago."

Fortunately, Halo doesn't have to be the first, just the best. Or the biggest. Even 2nd or 3rd best or biggest will suffice in a country the size of Europe.

Minion's unlimited shares aren't enough to fund expansion on that scale, so he'd damn well better get to selling massive amounts of weed, pronto. Even then I don't see it happening without a larger player paving the way.

Canopy Growth is the obvious candidate for a merger/buyout of Akanda. Highland Investments (formerly Canopy Growth Africa) already own two grows in Lesotho. The smaller 9-hectare site is currently leased out to another cannabis company, but their larger site is on par with Bophelo, and probably more advanced.

They may not need more acreage now, but they will eventually. And they can acquire Akanda now for far less than in 2024.
