Watching the PPS or a rapid large purchase of shares? I guess you can have large unusual purchases that don't really fast high spike the SP.. And it all depends on how tight lipped the FDC people are! You can go to jail for lesser things.. Ask Martha! But it can also be like a large flock of birds.. one bird see just one bird panic and take fast flight and the rest follow in mass!
