I am amazed that in studying Scripture how slow I move through the verses and chapters, yesterday I spent a good deal of time at the beginning of Chap. 9 in Luke, and I still find that I am still in Chap. 9. This morning I spent a fair amount of time on vrs. 23: "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me"----Very interesting study here, but I did not feel lead to post on this.....then I came came to vrs. 27: "But I tell you the truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste death, till they see the kingdom of God." How many times over the years have I heard this from the pulpit or from the S.S. classroom. This morning I sort of see a more detail picture than I had before, but, I need to do a lot more study to get it clear in my mind what I am thinking and seeing. A very easy subject, but going from the Old Testament to the New Testament, from the very early church to the modern church----anyway you grasp my thoughts... In my morning study I came by a couple of questions from a theologian who was writing on this verse.....Figure it is worth a person giving thought to them:
1---Has the church thus represented God's kingdom?
2---Has the church been the actual continuation of Christ's presence and ministry?
3---Has the church confronted men & women with the judgment of God and mediated to them their forgiveness in Christ
Question like these are really asking whether and to what extent the church is the church....Once I get myself straight here, I will finish this post..Until then---God Bless
A thought to go along with this, remember the only church some will ever experience may very well be the Christian out in public----deny yourself and take up your cross and follow Christ----"think I need to work on this"
