Spacelab - that was something I remember from grade school!

Ah, the good old days of Tang(TM) and Space Food Sticks(TM).

When every kid was told that when they grew up recreational travel to the Moon and Mars would be as routine as flying to New York (or Tucson).

Ahhh..... those were the days when dreams were real - or at least seemed so at the time!!!!!!!!!

Finding landmines at 2 meters. ELF can fly! Soft X-ray new physics "window" in air. Anything was possible.

Sensitive observations with the Spacelab 2 infrared telescope

I miss Tang, Space Food Sticks (tasted horrible!), and Quisp(TM).

I once knew a guy who worked on the assembly of the Saturn V rocket nozzle. He was a decent technician - one of those guys who turned a wrench - executed the blueprints. I think he started his own company when the Apollo program was cancelled. Used to claim he "built the Saturn V" as a way to gain credibility for his company that was going to build commercial rockets to launch satellites.

I think it went bankrupt back in '78. I met him in the late '80s where he was still pitching himself as the "guy behind the Saturn V".

I wonder what he's doing now.......

It's amazing how quickly time passes, isn't it?
