Yes, Humanigen has significant potential related to CRISPR.

"BURLINGAME, Calif., July 02, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Humanigen, Inc., (HGEN) (“Humanigen”) announced today that it has entered into an exclusive worldwide license with the Mayo Clinic to certain technologies used to create CAR-T cells lacking GM-CSF expression through various gene-editing tools including CRISPR-Cas9 (GM-CSF knock-out). The license covers various patent applications and know-how developed by Mayo in collaboration with Humanigen. These licensed technologies complement and broaden Humanigen’s leadership position in the GM-CSF neutralization space and expand Humanigen’s discovery platform aimed at improving CAR-T to include gene-edited CAR-T cells."

Although we have IP rights to use this technology in CAR-T, Jennifer Doudna was awarded a Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work in developing this method of slicing DNA to treat diseases. She is the co-founder of Intellia Therapeutics. The technology has the ability to affect living things, which includes plants and animals.

To put a personal touch to this, I became interested in this technology as I think it has lots of promise in treating brain disorders, which can impact a patient's ability to see, hear, speak, or exercise motor control. Brain disorders can be caused by various things, including chronic trauma. That's what happened to my wife, in my opinion. She was in constant pain, and doctors eventually refused to prescribe additional pain medicine. Part of her brain just shut down in self defense. I had hospice take charge of her case, because they didn't have to worry about prescribing pain medicine. But the brain damage was done to my wife by then. She was admitted into the hospital one month before Covid hit the US, and medical facilities shutdown. Eventually, she could no longer answer, dial, or hear the phone. If a nurse held the phone to her ear, she couldn't hear or speak. If the nurse pointed to me standing outside her window, she couldn't see me. She died in October.

To me, it's heart-breaking to know that patients and their families around the world are suffering, when a company like Humanigen has the therapeutic, and the technological IP rights, to lift this unbearable burden.
