Without a sensor on the pipe monitoring vulnerable areas having a sensor hooked up to a person is pretty useless. Now, an operator takes a portable air monitoring device and "sniffs" for leaks on flanges, valves, testing probes, and other items that tend to leak. The monitoring can also be done by ultrasound equipment. The operator may be connected to the alarm the sensor makes when detecting a leak. You can also wear a personal monitoring device, or "sensor" but that will only find bigger leaks not all.
