FedEx vs Amazon.

I gave the piece to my son to read since he works at a Fed Ex hub and Amazon has a warehouse here as well.

I asked him since he has been working for a couple of years now whether he had gotten fat and lazy as the Amazon article points out and why they have so much turnover.

His answer was nope.

Next question,

Are you still getting raises?

Yup.

He knows people who left Fed Ex and went to Amazon but as he says they sucked at Fed Ex and left for more money at Amazon.

The kid is a dedicated worker and has surprised his mom and I about his work ethic. But in return his managers have treated him with the same respect since it is a tough job working a dock and loading trucks that go out to destination points for further delivery.

There have been times when they realize he is not feeling well and send him home saying take a break and go home and rest up.

FedEx also awards vacation and sick days and the policy for vacation pay is if you didn't take it they pay it out semiannually; rather than the use it or lose it policy companies have.

They also provide a full line of benefits, and company training for career advancement.

I can assure you if I thought he was getting screwed I'd be the first to notice. They actually give a shit about their employees.
