Your comment is naïve. No one is making a discretionary choice here. It is a simple mathematical formula - once the market cap exceeds a certain level, a stock is no longer eligible to be included in certain indexes. "They" don't research companies because any such research would be irrelevant. The market cap speaks for itself, whether it is justified or inflated and regardless of the future prospects for the stock/company.

That's the way indexes work.

If I could afford to buy all of them, I would not need to buy any of them and I sure wouldn't be spending time on the message boards!
