Answer from Materialise IR on question of why the offering. Kind of like the press release said if I would have read it more thoroughly.

Thanks for your question. The proceeds will be used to fund further growth initiatives (both internally and externally) in both our software platform (magics and mimics) and in our 3 focus vertical markets (Footwear, eyewear & medical).

A concrete example is the option on the acquisition of link3d that we announced in march or something similar to the initiatives in footwear (RS print acquisition) or eyewear (ditto partnership) that were announced previous year. We are now strengthening our balance sheet to make sure we can take similar initiatives later on.
