Here's my take on why. JPM hit job. Feds needed a scapegoat and JPM suggested their biggest competitor.

Two birds with one stone...AND everyone in that billionaire boys club hated "dick" Fuld. He was too stupid to realize Lehman was being led to the slaughter....but why care at all when you walk away with 450 million anyway right?
