I had this on my mind this morning and I have been chasing it all over Scripture in 2 different Study Bibles, J.F.B. Bible commentary and the Interpreter's Bible and I have come to the conclusion I know nothing......
1 Corinthians 10:13
New King James Version
13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Let us say you are teaching a S.S. class or speaking with one seeking an answer, ......the question arises---"Well, OK, but what is the way of escape?" I will just leave it there and let you stew over the question. In all my reading and seeking a clear understanding, I ran across this from J.F.B. Commentary----"If Paul, an inspired apostle, not only permits, but urges, men to judge his sayings by Scripture, much more should the fallible ministers of the present visible Church do so."
I also was reading "way to escape-- The Greek is, "the way of escape"; the appropriate way of escape in each particular temptation; not an immediate escape, but one in due time, after patience has had her perfect work ( Jam 1:2-4, 12 ). He "makes" the way of escape simultaneously with the temptation which His providence permissively arranges for His people.
to bear it--Greek, "to bear up under it," or "against it." Not, He will take it away ( 2Cr 12:7-9 ). God gives us strength and courage to fight off temptation
NOTICE: escaping temptation is not immediately, but in due time
Very interesting subject to study, sort of ties in with Paul teaching to search the Scriptures to verify, then Jesus said "Knock and it will be opened,--seek and you will find---ask and it will be given"....a good point to think on is---God works in His time---not yours
God Bless have a good day
