I have a hard time on days like today. Seems it would get better but just thinking of those kids that never got to enjoy family and friends on days like this makes it hard. The average age was 18 and that is hard to handle. I told my Grand Son I wondered how I was left standing when all my friends were killed or wounded but when I look at my kids and grand kid I know they are better than I could ever be so I feel they are the reason I made it. Only 3 of us in my platoon were not wounded or killed in one fire fight. I got a piece of mortar in my neck but was able to pull it out. I know what you mean about that pool !LOL My grand kids when they were small were swimming around the bottom of the deep end. 8 ft and I could'nt even get down there. They would say let your breath out and you can get down there! That is like I never figured out why anyone would jump out of a perfectly good airplane!
