Yes, I agree with that. It's not at all clear to me that they even care all that much about KBLB or even Spydasilk as we think of it. The trademarks don't specify how much DS or MS is in a product. Perhaps this is just a marketing gimmick.
They might, for example, know that Thompson can only produce a few metric tons per year. They take a thimble full of MS and mix it in with a ton of silk and other fibers, slap the Spydasilk label on it, and market this as the Next Best Thing!
KBLB produces and sells a $million/year while Kings and MtM make money. As you say, this isn't their first rodeo.
That is an unlikely scenario. However, your full explanation still leaves the question of why these companies don't want KBLB to start the buzz now. I suppose if they expect it will take years before Spydasilk is ready for marketing, they might not be concerned about creating buzz now. But it takes a while to create buzz. If they were looking to sell product in a year, this is a good time to start with the buzz.
Explanation 2: KBLB has been muzzled by Kings and MtM to prevent him from saying anything stupid. These companies know that KBLB will struggle to produce a relevant amount of silk this year and it will take a couple of years to obtain sufficient silk for development and production. Therefore, they don't want buzz now because it is too early. Wait a year or so and the buzz will start.
Sigh.
