Yep we got them. This was back in 2008 and the one we had wasn't solar powered I don't think. Was anchored on base but flew a few hundred feet above the base. Insurgents/terrorists or whatever you want to call them would take pop shots at it from time-to-time but they're bullet proof. You would need something heavy to bring it down. So all shooting at with an AK-47 did is give away your position so an Apache helicopter could shove a hellfire missile up your ass lol. Meanwhile the guys in control of the blimp would watch on a huge projector screen eating popcorn whilst drinking a redbull as the Apache Helicopter is launching a hellfire missile up your ass lol.

The high speed camera on board and attached to the blimp was the most important thing. We called it "kill TV". Like I said the Blimp could see for miles. The camera on board had night vision, infrared, and extreme zoom capabilities. Cool stuff. But as I mentioned I'm not sure if it was solar powered or not. I was just a grunt and responded to whatever the Blimp caught. So the military capabilities and usefulness for an airship/Blimp are still there.
