Another development that was addressed for the very first time on this conference call? Clocking. More specifically, the clocking necessary to have a slower medium communicating with a quicker medium. We known for years that, through the invention of HyperCloud, NLST figured out how to allow DRAM hand off data to NAND seamlessly. And we've spoken how NVDIMM makers would have to pay NLST for their technology.

Dodo has often derided NLST for not suing Micron for all their "supposed" infringement. Well, recently he got his answer -- NLST has strategically waited for the right time to sue Micron and, judging from their positive result with Hynix and Judge Albright in Texas, it appears to be the perfect time. Not only are they suing Micron for infringing their patents on RDIMMs and LRDIMMs, they are suing them for infringing patent 833 and the clocking features to which it speaks. It is one of the teachings that will allow Netlist to develop HybriDimms.

The brilliance here is that they have their best chance to win in Texas. And with that, they can take any win there to other companies who make NVDIMMs (like Sanmina, Infineon, Smart, etc) to ask for compensation without necessarily going though the courts.

It's simply another one of the many avenues NLST has to get compensated for their technology. And that good news will only grow as NLST gets recognized for their outsized contributions to the Big Data, high speed communications, and the Cloud markets. The future is looking so much brighter than it has in years for Chuck and this little company.
