I agree with you here Roll, stocks dropping with the market is not an issue for me. It means that the stock is at least being slightly affected by the market which also means that the market is paying a bit of attention to the stock. What I mean is that I only worry about a dip in a company when the market as a whole is calm and humming quietly and doing its thing. That is when I get nervous because if the stock isn't humming along with the market and it is dropping then something is wrong at the company level, either actual or perceived. Now I am not sure exactly how to feel though when the market is rising but the stock, which normally kind of follows the market, barely moves....that is a whole other emotion to figure out! I guess that is where we get the idea of there being resistance to a stock price moving higher huh?
