Gary was able to keep the company alive long enough to be able to start reaping the benefits which all lie ahead. Your can bellyache all you want about the past, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do to stay afloat.

Think of a woman who has to sell her body so she can have enough money to go to college. She then makes something of herself. The past is what she had to do to get to where she is. Crappy analogy but it fits.
