By asia.internet.com staff

Taiwan's Tonbu, Inc., a provider of Web-based software and consulting services that enable companies to speed products to market, has partnered with IBM Global Services to co-market and resell technologies to the electronics manufacturing services industry in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Tonbu's S2S Platform enables enterprises to monitor, manage and execute on multi-tier programs, projects and workflow across locations and partners; while its Global Engineering, Manufacturing and Software (GEMS) Practice allows companies to outsource their development projects to Tonbu's global alliances and experts.

"Having IBM as a strategic business partner is an important validation of our S2S Platform and GEMS Practice solutions," said Steve Chen, Tonbu's chairman and chief executive officer.

"The agreement marks a significant step forward for Tonbu, as it will help to build on our success with companies such as Acer and UMC, and extend our already global presence in this robust market."

IBM Global Services will promote Tonbu's core competencies such as its global domain expertise in the EMS industry; outsourced, collaborative GEMS consulting services; real-time collaborative software; document management; content management; process and workflow automation; and project management.

In turn, Tonbu will deploy and market IBM outsourcing services that include the provision of best-practice data center facilities; Web/e-Business hosting; managed-operation data center services; IBM software and hardware; services and product offerings through the IBM Business Partner Programs; and various solution and integration services.

Tonbu itself will become a member of the IBM Service Provider for E-Business Initiative, and join the IBM Partner World Family. IBM will also become a Tonbu Preferred Technology Provider. An IBM/Tonbu Coordination Team will be established to facilitate and coordinate activities, according to a joint statement released by both companies.

Said Terry Yeh, executive of Strategy Outsourcing and e-business Hosting of IBM Global Services/GCG. "Tonbu will enable their customers and partners to leverage the IBM Partner World Family and, in turn, we at IBM will be able to provide our global partners with the most sophisticated collaboration tools on the market today."
