I actually think George Sharp made the same points you just did. He said that the judge would have given RETC management their day in court, so agreeing to their stipulation will speed up the process since they can be heard on May 18 this way. When he said it would show the court that he is fair and wants the truth heard, he is saying he has the stronger arguments and he wants the court to hear them and remember him in future cases.
