When I was connecting dots last spring and summer, around the time the test was done for solar on Roosevelt Island, I tried to figure out if the TKO plug--since it does DATA transfers in both directions, would be a possible means of assisting in the "doorway", for the solar energy into the building, vs. the electricity from the power companies into the building. I am not a rocket scientist, by any means, but my thinking was that because there is a desire to substitute solar, when it is available, as a power source, and when it is not available, some means of switching back to the electric company power...and a method to keep track of how much was used when for power companies so they can issue their bills to the customers....Now that energy companies are looking at charging different rates depending on the tme of day one uses the energy (Ameren, for instance, who just submitted that plan to IN or IL), the data relating to usage becomes that much more important.

That is my guess...anyhow....
