well, just to chime in. I was arrested more than once in my younger years and generally the police reports weren't even close to what actually happened.
One example.... I used to bowl at least three nights a week and though I was no angel we got harassed.
One night after coming home and trying to drop my buddy off we got pulled over for a light out on my license plate. They stopped us in a parking lot and immediately demanded that we get out of the truck, so we did.
Myy buddy had a pipe on him and tried to toss it in the weeds and one of the cops saw it and picked it up, so they went through my entire vehicle.
Another cop went through our bowling bags, found a baggie that contained my rosin bags and immediately kept telling us how we were nailed. I laughed at the guy for being so stupid but we got arrested for possession of a controlled substance anyway. Plus the dick confiscated my rosin bags so I was a little pissed.
My buddy had a little weed in his pocket, so there was that....
When we finally went to court, the justification on the police report was that they 'witnessed a leafy green substance in my ashtray' so they decided to pull us out and search. It was complete bullshit. My ashtray was empty. Then they went on the report to explain that my rosin bags and their residue was also thought to be another controlled substance, which was also bullshit because they couldn't produce an ounce of evidence to back it up.
Not only that, but they never tested the weed my buddy had because it was too small of a sample.
It cost us over 1000 a piece to hire a lawyer and go through court just to find out that there was a target on our back, cops are liars and that was in the nineties.
Walked out scot free. The funny part of it all was that we were drunk as skunks and they would have had me did to rights on a DUI but they chose another route.
That was also the night I slipped out of the handcuffs on the bench in the empty police station and rearranged a few desks for them, moving paperwork here there and everywhere. My buddy was freaking out but I managed to slip back in before they came in and I bonded us out.
Was I lucky for being white? Maybe, but that's only one example that I'm willing to share. I know cops nowadays and I'm a law abiding citizen so I don't want to throw anyone under the bus but they are the first to admit the lies....
