Who are "They"? The first conspiracy said "They" were the Chinese. Creating a biological weapon. So now it's Gates paid the Chinese to "create" the virus? Or is it some other bullshit? LOL Gee, the lowly bat, being a zoonotic reservoir for a jump of Covid to humans, sort of got swatted aside by conspiracies.

"Vaccine"? As in singular? You might want to catch up to the fact there are 6 vaccines being used in the world, and a couple more on the way.

who paid for it and who really benefited?

Another stoopid question? Pfizer paid all R&D costs for their vaccine. Those vaccinated with it, benefited. Moderna had a chunk of its R&D funded by the gov. Those vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine (me!) benefited.

Didn’t seem to work out so well for the US taxpayer...

The vaccines have worked quite well.
