Best selling car in US in 2006 was Ford-F series. i checked what fuel economy do u get on those vehicles. combined fuel economy is from 27 to 30 mpg, depends on the model.

Now check this out:). the best EU selling car in 2006 was Opel Astra. lets see what fuel economy do u get on those vehicles. combined fuel economy ranges from 38 mpg for the worst model and up to 58.9 mpg for the best fuel economy model.

just looking at those numbers u can see why US consumes 20.5M bbr of oil/day and EU just 13M bbr of oil/day. and one more thing...there are 300M people living in US and 450M in EU.
