This is going to be a problem-why?

The math says no problem.

Almost 8M doses of J&J have been given. That's less than 3% of the US population.

NYT

At a congressional hearing Tuesday morning, top officials from Pfizer and Moderna reiterated previous supply commitments in front of lawmakers Both firms promised earlier this month to deliver a total of 400 million doses by the end of May, weeks ahead of schedule, and a total of 600 million by the end of July.

The 600M/2 = 300M population, out of 330M total. Add in the prior 8M J&J, and the target is 308M to be vaccinated. Of course with you and your anti-VAX ilk floating around it might fall far short of the herd immunity figure 70-80% Fauci has been advocating. Congratulations , you just made Pfizer, and Moderna more future profits, with the need for booster shots.

So it doesn't matter if the Ad Com meeting today recommends that the J&J vaccine be taken off the market or not for the US. They probably will allow it back in the market with a warning label. Even if they take the Hold off, what the FDA inspection found at Baltimore Emergent BioSolutions is bad news for J&J production. It isn't a simple matter of getting the mops out, and then resuming production, in a few days. It's going to take at least weeks, if not months for J&J production at the facility to crank up again.

In the meantime, Pfizer, and Moderna will own the US market.

So, Freddy why is the J&J vaccine a problem for the US? J&J will end up with their Adenovirus based vaccine, completing with the AZN vaccine outside the US. With the EU saying: "Blood clots? No problem". Competing in E Europe, Middle East, and S America with the Russian Sputnik Adeno virus. The Chinese having bombed out with their Adeno vaccine, hard at work developing a mRNA instead.

There's no problem. At least in the US.
