I think you're overthinking what's going on here. HDUP wants to generate hype for it's backroom shenanigans. So it throws a bunch of cash and/or free shares at people with interesting resumes and says "You don't have to actually work, just hold a paper title & let us issue some press releases mentioning your name."

There is absolutely no downside for these people. At worst, the 1% of their friends who actually have a clue about penny stocks discovers that their buddy is willing to accept a gift from some random Canadian shell company.

I don’t disagree with investors lack of due diligence but the 2 guys that affiliated with HDUP have pretty good credentials and seem like pretty smart men. Why would they tarnish their image to work with these guys unless they were legit
