Vaccine made for South African Covid variant promising,_says_Moderna
My understanding is that the South African variant is most likely to be a problem for all the current vaccines, but it isn’t common in the US (yet.)
Although we don’t have enough data yet to know for certain, I agree that we are likely to need booster shots for Covid-19 every year as, unlike SARS, it has definitely not faded away.
The problem with this virus is that it can be spread by asymptomatic people, and for up to two days before people who get sick show symptoms. If it was a simple case of staying home when you’re sick, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
