LL has made a calculation that it is better to settle. A long legal battle is expensive, but that doesn't matter to a large company like ATVI, for several reasons which have been discussed here at length, in the past. Also first one through the door will usually get the best deal.

Someone posted a link here recently where Samsung was involved in a patent suit and the legal fees exceeded the amount of $$ received in a trial win. These circumstances are all considerations to settle the case.
