To Quilt's credit, I believe he suggested something to that effect some time ago - only to proceed with the 6 original claims that made it out of the PTAB, to keep the record clean.

I recall some debate about the issue, perhaps wanting to go forward with as many claims as possible. For whatever reason, counsel chose to go that route and at this point we aren't privy to the decision why.
