Meanwhile, more nifty stocks appearing in the cowboy market

I listened to the local public radio broadcast about the Bitcoin with three guests, all experts.

My takeaway....

What is the future of money?

Is the Bitcoin the answer for the remainder of the current century?

Somehow I doubt it.

The closest I can come to the future of money has to do with a Cathie Wood video where she interviews the CEO of the Square Company (SQ).

Are banks, as I, a Baby Boomer, have understood them going back to the days of the DeMedicis in Florence, going to operate they way they have always operated? With tangible objects?

As I understand what is ahead, banks are useless, because the digital economy makes intermediaries useless. At the end of the day, all a bank is, in so many words, is an intermediary. A middle man getting his little cut.

It is about peer to peer transactions. I carry a mobile device that is, for all practical purpose, my personal bank. You do the same.

I am a pretty well to do hausfrau married to a doctor and don't have to work but I'm in charge of the palatial property. I hire the maids, the groundskeepers, the gardeners. I contract with the caterers for the parties. My doctor husband golfs on weekends until he's too pooped to putt.

And how do I, the hausfrau, and my doctor (if I could just get that s.o.b to stay off the golf course) husband, pay for everything, tips included?

You have your mobile device. The poor lesser than schmucks you need for "essential services" also have their mobile devices. You simply transfer your money from your mobile device into their mobile device.

Peer to Peer transaction.

Being a Baby Boomer I remember the days when an actual paper check took 10 business days (read 14 days to account for the two weekends) to actually clear. My money to your bank account and vice versa.

And guess what? One day longer for those holidays.

All nonsense. This is a 24/7 world as far as money goes. It knows no holidays. It knows no weekends.

I hate having to pay Earl for chores with paper money. Or Albert. Maybe I should break down and contract with a cleaning service.

And the reason why I don't? Because here in America there are still millions, some experts put the estimate at 60 million, who are unbanked. Because I feel sorry for them, that's why. So I pay them cash money I have to draw out.

Welcome to America in the 21st Century.
