gfp: While we can't predict the timeline of the collapse I am 97% sure that it will occur based on the history of failed empires. The thing is you cannot wait to be in the death throes of the collapse and only then hope to get out of the country with any of your wealth. My wife and I are in a fortunate position. Our retirement is imminent and the timing coincides with our timeline to leave. We have already sold our house so we will not be subject to the whims of the real estate market. We have a date certain when we need to vacate and thus the arrangements that need to be made can be timed without uncertainty. We have travelled extensively all over the world. In a vacuum we'd move to New Zealand in a heartbeat. It has been our favorite country in the world for over 20 years. But the logistics, and that country's current closure to immigration makes going there on our timeline impossible at this time. For us, it is just prudent to leave while we can before the possible implementation of a mandatory cryptocurrency and a social credit scoring system that would render me persona non grata almost immediately. I will not live on my knees and have my future dictated by the kind of people who engage in the suppression of free speech by the Tech Tyrants of Silicon Valley. I wish everyone well that wants or has to stay. But I figure we can always come back if our legitimate fears end up being unfounded. But for now we look forward to our exit and just hope that August of 2022 is not too late.
