For conservatives, on the other hand, more knowledge increases endorsement of CTs among those with low trust; for high-trust conservatives, knowledge seems to have no effect — it neither increases nor decreases tendency to endorse CTs.

I can understand trust equating to CT, then if your whole news diet comes from the fringe, there you have your most ardent believers...

What most of them don't understand is they are being fed what they want to hear for profit....Enter Fox, now Newsmax etc...People like Ailes and Murdoch understood, ratings = profit...

(We will see how well advancing CTs work out for Fox with the lawsuits over voting machine misinformation)

So for profit news changed our world, but I maintain the environment had to be ripe for it to take hold like it has...History backs me up..

For years both sides lost the trust of half the population, Fox, Trump and others are now more than willing to exploit it for profit and or power, and people (other officials ) are more than willing to jump on the band wagon...

Its all one big time bomb....They are creating illusion, not reality...

One last note,,,there were at least enough people in the last election that saw through it all and were willing to cast their vote dem.....What is still scary is 70million didn't...
