Ipod = Icon

The thing sells and sells and sells. They may not have the greatest product but they've got the best image and marketing, getting things to the point where ipod is almost synonymous with music player, the way xerox machine was with photocopier.

It may be easy to string some components together (or for some companies perhaps not) but selling the players is another story.
