I've had this happen twice now recently. (schwab and now Vanguard).

I place a sell order for a stock. For whatever reason.... either by my fault (getting similar accounts confused), or glitch in online trading platform....I'm allowed to place another sell order for the same share(s), and they BOTH execute.

In the case of Vanguard their online platform is terrible. Even after a sell order executes, it still shows the share(s) in the portfolio for a few minutes.

So this morning, I end up with a negative share of stock ACMB in the account. How that is allowed to happen is beyond me. Rather than spend 25 minutes holding on the phone, I ended up buying 1 share back, to bring share count to zero, fortunately I bought it lower than I sold (the share I didn't actually own)

weird.

Seems like people could try to exploit this kinda thing.
