The Suez Canal situation should be instructive...

The more independent the US is in basic commodities, be it food, fertilizer, coal, oil, natural gas, copper, or steel (to name just
a few) the safer we will remain as a nation and not be held hostage
from threat of either economic warfare or accidental supply disruptions.

The Permian Basin should hold enough hydrocarbons to help supply the
needs of the US and our trading partners for decades to come. (If I
were Saudi Arabia or another countries sovereign wealth fund, I would
hold and continue to increase a stake in TPL without any thought for a
sale of such a holding.) The energy complex related to the Permian is
massive and can work very well so long as political agendas do not
create unintended negative consequences.

The biggest risk that TPL faces is from our very own government who
for decades wanted the US to become energy independent and now,
having achieved this objective, is not working on using this massive
infrastructure that is already in place to make it even stronger
and less vulnerable to disastrous disruptions...manmade or natural.
