Why doesn't Apple just buy Virnetx Holdings and all their IP for 1$ billion, then they get the IP, and all the cash from the last settlement.

Because: 1) The market cap is only about $380M, and 2) In less than 21 months all but one of the remaining VPN on Demand patents will be expired or invalidated. 3)VirnetX has no customers or ongoing business to speak of.
