RPS - Your comments make sense for the most part. But, if SCOTUS is soliciting additional information shouldn't it be in touch with both parties? And why wouldn't it be be in the case docket?

There has been a lot of speculation that the Solicitor General 's office wrote the letter in response to a request from SCOTUS for clarifications. I did not see a notification in the case docket. Were you asked for any clarification?
