As I looked at this hi-lited note which Dr. David Jeremiah wrote in the introduction to Galatians, I thought that I had posted this sometime back and did not want to repeating previous thoughts----then It hit me how important this message is, maybe not to unbelievers but to the Christian who sometimes put more trust in their abilities to work rather than in their faith. I probably did not word that exactly correct, but you get my gist....Anyway from the notes:
The Gospel is good news. When Jesus cried, "It is finished !" on the cross, all our sins were forgiven. When we read that truth and then decide we must help Him out by adding or subtracting from His work, we are saying, "Lord, You weren't enough."
Don't take from the gospel, don't add to it. Jesus is enough ! Nothing more, nothing less. In Him alone is our Salvation, our righteousness, our joy----both now and in eternity.
Some serious thoughts here, if I may sort of keep it rather simple......not the Priest, not the Preacher, nor you, nor your good works, gets your sins forgiven, forgiveness from your sins comes only through your faith in Jesus Christ. Don't allow someone to complicate this by misleading you to believe you have to add to it or change the Scriptures to fit your personal wants & desires
