Ranchhand71, The PE ratio of TPL is now higher than FNV. The extreme volatility yesterday in TPL is interesting. I would still hope that
long term investors here scale down their positions on price spikes.
They would be selling for the best reason possible: Valuation!

Chevron recently announced their intention to produce one million
barrels of oil a day out of the Permian. That is certainly very good
news for TPL. Still, this is the oil business where sentiment goes
from one extreme to the other.

One more point: ETF's buying a thinly traded stock is great on the way
up, not so much on the way down. If ETFs need to sell they sell. For
TPL this may increase the swings in the price of the stock and may help
to explain yesterdays action in the stock. Wish options would be here
for TPL (and thanks for the explanation.) For an astute investor or
trader, understanding that moves like yesterday's in TPL may be the
norm may create opportunities.

Finally, for a long term investor will this matter? I would argue yes,
but I might be wrong.
