Romans 1:16
The Just Live by Faith
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
That word "Salvation" I have always thought of it like an umbrella and under the umbrella is all of those other Bible words that many find strange to the ear, like justification, redemption, grace, propitiation, imputation, sanctification, and glorification.....to me all of that falls under Salvation. The word "Salvation" implies the idea of deliverance, safety preservation, healing.
Salvation is in three (3) tenses:
1---The Christian has been saved from the guilt and penalty of sin
2---The Christian is being saved from the habit and dominion of sin in their lives
3---The Christian will be saved at the Lord's return
Our Salvation is by "grace" through faith and nothing at all to do with works.....It is a free gift from God
I suppose that you and I who believe fall in to 1 & 2. Now for me I find great security in #2, I screw up every day, I struggle with doing right, I want to, but I always fall short, but as I understand it, this is just the process of life in general....One day when you & I take our last earthly breath we will fall into #3----Until that day we just have to continue in faith, trust & hope. In our world today this is a full-time job
God Bless and you folks who are working for a living----hang in there the week-end is just around the corner
