"Record date is only meaningful if the Daily List or for Pinks, the Other Portal Daily List, shows that the dividend/split "will not be quoted ex"...in that case the record date becomes the effective EX DIVIDEND date. Other than that record date is just the date the transfer agent uses to send out paper notification to shareholders of record on their books. Most of us are not ever shareholders of record unless we've ordered certs...we are either NOBOs or OBOs and hold the stock in street name." Maybe even if no one asked for them?

NOBO (Non-Objecting Beneficial Owner)
A beneficial ("street") security holder who has not objected to his or her name being released to the Corporation, if the Corporation so requests.

I wouldn't object if they do something of beneficial value to the bkmpp's.
