2020 1099 tax forms

I received my 2020 1099-DIV from E*Trade. It shows a fully taxable qualified dividend of $12,596.43, the then-value of the BEPC shares I received in the July, 2020 spinoff of BEPC from BEP.

E*Trade claims that is how Brookfield classified the distribution. The Brookfield website continues to state that "the special distribution of class A shares of BEPC to a U.S. unitholder who is an eligible partner qualifies as a non-taxable distribution of property." Despite repeated questioning, neither firm will provide me any information beyond that.

Is there anybody else here who held BEP units on the spinoff date last July? How has the distribution been reported on your 1099-DIV, and who is your broker?
