Sunspotter, please use caution in attempting to better describe a documented Adverse Event without supportive evidence. It is highly misleading to suggest that numbness and tingling caused by Brilacidin is better described as peripheral neuropathy.

Peripheral neuropathy is suggestive of nerve damage. Peripheral neuropathy is most commonly used to describe nerve damage from advanced diabetes or vascular disease but can be a result of many disease processes, injury and some drugs, especially chemotherapeutics.

There is no evidence that I am aware of that temporary numbness and tingling from Brilacidin is a result of nerve damage.

As you know, local anesthetics cause numbness and tingling and are not causative of peripheral neuropathy. Diamox, a diuretic which I've taken to prevent altitude sickness, commonly causes numbness and tingling. These drugs, and many others (including antivirals, btw) that cause temporary numbness and/or tingling are not described as neurotoxic or causative of peripheral neuropathy.
