Subjects are enrolled when they sign the consent form.

Then there is screening to make sure they satisfy eligibility criteria.

Then they are randomized (randomly selected to be part of one of the study groups / arms; i.e. brilacidin or placebo).

Then they are treated with "study drug" (brilacidin or placebo).

Then their clinical outcomes are followed.
