Please keep in mind that those of us outside the NioCorp management group do not know the detailed inner workings and what is in play. It just may be that the timing was strategic to an event we are not privy to. I do hear the clock ticking and the Lind effect starts in less than four months so hopefully we will be hearing several strategic press releases between now and June. Don’t forget the impact the current share price has on dilution at the time deals are inked.

Even though the timing does look opportunistic it makes a lot of business sense and to me it feels honest. They are not saying they are going to produce REEs, they are saying they are reassessing the possibility of producing REEs. Remember this was originally a REE play when the current managment team took over this resource (Remember Quantum Rare Earth Developments Corp). The current management team are world class experts in the processing of Rare Earths and they decided REEs were not economically feasible at the time and built the business case around Niobium, Titanium and later adding Scandium. The REE market has changed considerably since their decision to move away from REEs. Now they are saying they are looking back into the potential, if any to produce REEs. That potential quite possibly includes industry and government subsidies to build a domestic supply chain of these VERY strategic resources. I found Boilermakers comparison of the REE content of Round top to Elk Creek very interesting. If Elk Creek wasn’t financially feasible until now, where does that put Round Top until this current market? Round Top would be a non-starter (if is is now).

This management team has been open and honest about the potential of Elk Creek to produce REEs from the beginning and I don’t see the recent announcement as a shift away from that philosophy. It is just a reassessment due to the change in the political landscape driven by the risk to our domestic supply chains.
